Ever since the beginning of the Pichlmayrgut the hotel was connected to a farm with its animals. This fact hasn’t changed until today.

The two stables are just 50 meters away, behind the hotel. More than a hundred cattle, some horses, sheep and goats are lodged there. During a walk around the hotel you meet our animals at the daily grazing. In the pet's corner there are hares, for example, who are looking forward to a visit.

Happy and healthy animals

Since 2007 our cattle live in a suckler herd in the new modern stable. This gives the animals sufficient space in winter and to move freely.

Organic heating

At the Hotel Pichlmayrgut sustainability and environment protection are very important. Because of this we decided 2003 to use organic heating for our hotel.

We are very lucky to be located in beautiful surroundings like this and we want to protect this treasure for the next generation. This has always been a concern of the family Stein

As a hiking and ski hotel we depend on unpolluted nature that is not affected by climate change. Our guests are looking for relaxation in the beautiful mountain scenery of the Ennstal. They enjoy the multifaceted flora and fauna and recover in the pure air in the mountains.

We want to conserve these benefits for the future and have to supply our contribution. Therefore we decided to change our heating methods and built a new heating where we use wood chip. So we are more independent of fossil energy sources. Besides, the wood chips are produced in the region and this increases the local agriculture value.

But not only our hotel takes benefit of this heating, also the surrounded houses are connected to this system. By this way we want to contribute to conserve our beautiful nature for the next generation.

The innovative sports shop contains a large selection of international sporting goods such as J.Lindeberg and Mammut. Sporty clothing for every weather and sport can be found there.

In our small but fine farm shop, you can take home products from our region such as delicious cheese, high-quality wine or various oils as a souvenir or gift.

Vineyard

Hotel Pichlmayrgut in Schladming provides a vineyard at their own in Gamlitz at South-Styria. There wine-sorts grow and are prepared to special wines which you can enjoy at the Hotel-Restaurant in Pichl near Schladming.

One of those rather fine wines is the Sauvignon Blanc from the own vineyard from family Steiner, which is situated in Gamlitz in the south of Styria. This particular grape variety has received international attention lately. Styria, in the south-east of Austria, is seen as one of the best regions for Sauvignon Blanc, especially since the more aromatic and intensive wines are succeeding on an international level. Styria in Austria offers perfect conditions with the special climate and the perfect soil required for growing Sauvignon Blan

The continental conditions lead to strong differences in temperatures. During summer it is very warm and even hot, during winter it gets rather cold. Also, the differences in temperature between day and night are quite extreme. But the location south of the Alps and the orientation towards the south also come through. The Mediterranean influence helps with a softening of the extremes. The comparatively high rainfall levels provide fresh minerals for the schist.

The results are absolutely delicious – but only available at Hotel Pichlmayrgut near Schladming in Austria. The hotel’s own Sauvignon Blanc comes across as opulent, with body and extract. The acid level and aroma depth will convince you. Overall we find an intensive, spicy, fruity Sauvignon Blanc.
